Polymer AR Mags Adopted By British Army

Polymer offers great advantages as a material for magazines. Although the Warsaw Pact adopted non metal magazine housings in large numbers as far back as the 1960s, the West's militaries were slow to follow- the first major country to do so was Austria in 1977 with the Steyr AUG, followed by Switzerland in the 1980s with the StGw90 Lightness is a major adantage. The Magpul EMAG recently adopted by the British Army to supplant an excellent H&K steel magazine is 40% lighter, dropping an infantryman's burden load by over 1 kg.
