Setting Up For A Fantastic Turkey Hunt
Once you uncover a Old Tom while turkey hunting, the next stage is usually to move in close and call him into gun range. Your objective is to slip as close as possible with out spooking him. Then you “set up” and attempt to call him near enough for a shot. Bear in mind: when approaching a turkey, if he spots you, he’s gone! Be cautious not to be found. Landscape and vegetation normally determine how near you will get before setting up. Seasoned hunters rarely approach inside 100 yards. They can set up as far away as 300 yards
