Taking Wave Surfer Pictures In California

I have been taking pictures semi-professionally for several years now and about 6 months ago I began working on a long term project about web surfer portraitures in California. Now, usually I take pictures in places which are a bit more dry and inland, but on this project I have actually been spending a sizable amount of time on docks and in small rafts and any other technique that you can think of to be in or close to the water without actually being in it. I'm using a Nikon D80, which has actually served me extremely well
